M.E.L.T. (formerly MELT) is a Pittsburgh-based psych rock band delivering heavy, riff-driven songs, powerful vocals, and electrifying live performances with a signature extraterrestrial-inspired aesthetic. A fixture in the Steel City music scene and beyond, the band features guitarist/vocalist Joey Troupe, bassist/vocalist James May, and drummer/vocalist J.J. Young.
Since their 2021 self-titled debut, M.E.L.T. has shared stages with heavyweights including Lightning Bolt, Pigsx7, The Mystery Lights, Rickshaw Billies Burger Patrol, and Silver Synthetic. Their sophomore album, Replica of Man (2023), earned critical acclaim and launched their first major tour.
Each member brings a unique musical pedigree: Troupe from Paddy the Wanderer, May from Aberrant Kingdom and Spare Arrows, and Young from his solo project BITE and co-founding the Steel City Death Club media collective.
The band rebranded as M.E.L.T. in 2025 and released their third album, Innervate/Obliterate on October 3, 2025 — continuing to push boundaries and deliver an uncompromising vision of psych rock.
